Men, forget work and think sun, sea, ice cold beer! Check out these summer hints for looking cool in the heat.

1. From the top, keep your head cool with a stylish straw trilby. For the more expensive more traditional look, you can get the Monte Christi trilbies at James Locke on St James Street - the ultimate classic straw trilby, perfect for both Cowdray and Goodwood. Alternatively for something a little more casual, Duffer at St George, sold at Debenhams offer a fantastic range. Marks & Spencer sell an Autograph Stripe which is both bright and funky. (See pic)

2. The sales are on and it is the prime opportunity to stock up on more T-shirts. Gap are offering up to 75% off, Debenhams sale is now from 30% off and Questionnaire in Notting Hill and Wimbledon, start their T-shirt prices from fifteen pounds. See pic

3. Strut your stuff in a bright and funky pair of Vilebrequin swimming trunks, or if you are a more modest type, Hackett do a striped pair and M&S have a simple blue, red and yellow pair for nine pounds

4. Light weight trousers are essential, cool and very versatile, Gap have a fantastic pair of white linen. See pic. Hackett do a very stylish white cotton suit and if you need a handsome pair of cropped linen trousers try Day Birger et Mikkelsen or Nicole Farhi.

5. Casual summer shoes/sandals to complete that beach look, try the black leather closed toe slip-ons from Zara for starters, or a pair of Havaianas Brazil, otherwise H&M and Gap have an excellent range.

Enjoy your summer!
